There are 4 variables to efficient project management: expenditure, timing, time and quality. Professional PMs also aim at making the organization of business processes better. Most tasks employ such elements as labour, funds, and equipment to produce something of value and meet objectives. There are a number of things that are vital for efficient project management. A few of them are listed in the next paragraph:

- Establishing goals and conducting analysis.

- Dealing with risk. Most feature a certain level of risk.

- Choosing labor and tools for the project.

- Determining the outcomes of the project.

- Controlling what is happening: assigning jobs, supervising execution.

- Managing quality.

- Dealing with change. Change is constant. The majority of projects develop in time, so the factor of dynamics should be accounted for.

- Communicating with project stakeholders.

To deal with these issues you can use pencil and paper or probably MS EXCEL. But you get quite a few advantages if you decide to use project tracking software:
