Charles Fey created the first mechanic slot machine in 1887 and he is considered to be the inventor of it. Founded in San Francisco, they were handmade and added to local mini-casinos in an agreement with possessors to have a 50% rental fee for their usage. There is a wrong opinion that slot machines in the 19th century were huger than modern ones. In reality, they appeared the same as modern slot machines. The most considerable dissimilarity is that symbols were various back then. Modern slot machines with fruit symbols were created a bit later. Charles Fey were a successful businessman who earned huge amounts of money on his creation. The very first machine was named the “Liberty Bell.”. At those times trading was increasing a lot that is why Charles Fay had a nice opportunity to develop his own gambling business.

The first big line of slot machines was manufactured when Charles Fay made a contract with Mills Novelty Company. Mills Liberty Bell was the first machine of that union. After several years of successful collaboration Miles Company made a decision to develop a slot machine with fruit symbols. It was Operator Bell. The first slot machines were made of cast iron, a heavy metal which was difficult to replace from casino to casino. Mills Company had to resolve that complexion, so in 1915 they created the wood cabinet slot machine.
